CONTRASTES. The new CD by the Brasilian pianist Fernando Calixto
Fernando Calixto is a Brazilian pianist, born in Uberaba (state of Minas Gerais). Raised in Frutal (state of Minas Gerais), he began his musical studies with Elaine Lacerda and later on with Prof. Sílvio Robazzi, Alla Dadaian, Daniel Tarquínio and Jaci Toffano.
After receiving his bachelor’s degree from the Universidade de Brasília (UnB), he became Master and Doctor with honors in Piano Performance by the Rimsky Korsakov State Conservatory in St. Petersburg, Russia -one of the most traditional institutions of education in the world, and Russia’s first Conservatory. He was awarded the Red Diploma, which is given only those who obtained the highest possible score on the Final Federal Exams.
In Russia, he graduated in the Piano Class of Nadezhda Eysmont, Chamber Music by Ivan Mikhaliov, and Accompaniment by Irina Kusonskaya. Also while at the Conservatory, he acted as Assistant Teacher of Nadezhda Eysmont from 2010 to 2013.
Currently he develops his career both as a soloist and chameber musician, performing in countries in Latin America and Europe, such as Brazil, Equador, Chile, Russia, Italy, Hungary and others.
Fernando Calixto is also well known for his work as a pedagogue as well as producing and incentivizing Classical Music concerts.
As creator of the “A Literatura do Piano em 12 Concertos” (The Pianistic Literature in 12 Concerts), which took place between 2018 and 2019, he played 12 solo recitals, one per month during a year, dedicating each month to a different composer.
