This is simply stunning playing! Ondřej Vrabec is one of the world's élite players, becoming solo horn of the Czech Philharmonic at the age of 17. This CD showcases music by Robin Holloway and Peter Seabourne that will readily find a wide audience. Holloway's Partitas were written for the great Barry Tuckwell back in the 1980s [and are pieces of typical invention with Baroque forms filtered though a Romantic hero-horn prism]. They are paired with a wide variety of works from four-horn miniatures to Seabourne's extended rhapsody "The Black Pegasus", the longest piece on the disc. Performances and sound quality are outstanding.
