Liza Fediukova (violin) and Giacomo Battarino (piano) give a paramount performance of an impressive range of masterpieces. The choice of pieces on this CD has a strong connection to each other and includes much interweaving. Three of the works are waltzes, which are presented in completely different ways. You can hear how Tchaikovsky, Glazunov and Britten used the same form of music each in a unique way, influenced both by the period and the purpose of the composition. We begin in a very classical way - with Tchaikovsky and one of the most famous violin compositions, his «Waltz-Scherzo». Thereafter follows two free forms, Fantasies really: one is by Rimsky-Korsakov and another one by the wonderful British composer Peter Seabourne, whose work evokes a feeling of loss and inner soul -searching. Then a piece by Ilan Eshkeri, called «Nureyev», that was composed for the movie «The White Crow». It connects to the three pieces by Glazunov from the ballet «Raymonda». And at the very end is the inimitable Suite by Britten which ends with a waltz! I am grateful for the friendship, support and partnership I have in Giacomo Battarino.
