Ann Tayler's journey in the world of music began at a young age, marked by her exceptional talent in piano, which earned her recognition with an award in the Ho-Hai-Children Piano Competition. Growing up attending a Catholic girls' school, she deeply appreciated the moral teachings instilled by the church. Throughout her high school and undergraduate years at National Taiwan Normal University, Ann immersed herself in music, playing the violin in the school orchestra and later exploring composition during her studies.
Her passion for music composition blossomed during her sophomore year in college when she had the opportunity to travel to Germany with a professor from the Taiwan Contemporary Music Society to attend the World Contemporary Music Festival. It was there that she was inspired by the diversity of modern music, fueling her desire to delve deeper into composition.
Upon graduating with distinction from university, Ann pursued further studies at the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom, where she embarked on a career as a cross-disciplinary music therapist. Alongside her academic pursuits, she remained dedicated to composition, occasionally creating beloved songs and piano pieces.
In 2017, Ann founded the Ann Ensemble in Taichung, Taiwan, where she showcased her talent for classical music through afternoon music events. Her compositions, notably the Brighton Music Suite, the Eastbourne Music Suite, the Cambridge Music Suite, and the London Music Suite, gained acclaim for their delicate melodies and fashionable musical trend.
Ann's contributions to the world of music extend beyond composition. She is actively involved in various professional associations such as the Royal Musical Association, the British Music Society, and the British Society for Music Analysis, among others. Her works are celebrated for their neoclassical and contemporary Classical style, characterized by meticulous arrangements and complete musical structures that convey joy and humor.
Throughout her career, Ann has been passionate about music education, conducting workshops and teaching students of all ages about musical elements and composition. She has also collaborated with interdisciplinary artists to create unique performances combining chamber music with ballet, folk dance, and theatrical elements.
